About the role
Medical Hill Healthcare Center is looking for a part-time Medical Records Assistant to support resident documentation and records management in a healthcare setting. This position is important for keeping files accurate, complete, and compliant with facility rules and regulatory standards, while also helping the clinical team with day-to-day administrative documentation tasks.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, reliable, discreet, and comfortable working in a busy environment where accuracy and confidentiality are essential.
Key responsibilities
- Keep resident medical files well-organized and aligned with facility procedures and regulatory expectations.
- Verify that documentation remains current, complete, and correct.
- Handle admissions, discharges, and transfers by updating resident charts and related paperwork.
- File, scan, and locate medical records and supporting documents as needed.
- Help conduct chart audits and document reviews to support compliance efforts.
- Work with nursing, therapy, and administrative teams on documentation needs and record coordination.
- Safeguard resident privacy and follow HIPAA requirements at all times.
- Support requests for records and the release-of-information process.
- Assist with survey readiness and regulatory compliance tasks.
- Take on additional administrative work when assigned.
Qualifications and requirements
- High school diploma or an equivalent credential is required.
- Prior experience in medical records, healthcare administration, or skilled nursing is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is an advantage.
- Exposure to electronic health record systems is beneficial.
- Strong planning, organization, and time management abilities.
- Careful attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information responsibly.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and standard computer tools.
