Role overview
The Scarborough, Hull and York Pathology Service (SHYPS) is looking for an energetic and diligent Medical Laboratory Assistant to join its busy and welcoming Cellular Pathology laboratory at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The position is based in Hull and supports a range of laboratory activities alongside qualified Biomedical Scientists.
What you will do
You will help the clinical, scientific and technical teams within the Cellular Pathology Department by carrying out essential routine laboratory work. This includes sample receipt, equipment upkeep, reagent handling, stock control and use of the laboratory computer system. The post involves a hands-on support function within a team environment.
Working environment
The Cellular Pathology laboratory operates from a purpose-built facility at Hull Royal Infirmary and is part of the wider integrated Cellular Pathology service within SHYPS.
Contract information
This role is offered on a fixed-term/secondment basis, with the possibility of becoming permanent at the end of the assignment. If you intend to apply as a secondment, you must obtain approval from your current line manager before submitting an application.
