Job Overview

World Pharmacy is seeking a meticulous Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our pharmaceutical and medical laboratory team based in Thornhill, Ontario. This permanent full-time position requires a candidate to support laboratory functions by analyzing samples, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with industry protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret laboratory test results accurately.
  • Set up and prepare medical laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Clean and service laboratory equipment to maintain optimal functionality.
  • Perform quality control checks to validate testing methods.
  • Prepare and process various samples for analysis.
  • Analyze data obtained from tests and compile detailed reports.
  • Assist and staff different areas within laboratory operations as needed.

Requirements

  • Completion of a college, CEGEP, or non-university certificate/diploma program ranging from 3 months to less than 1 year, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of five years professional experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Proficient with analytical techniques such as GC-MS/FID systems and chromatography methods.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory testing and analysis procedures.
  • Competent in computer applications including MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Word.
  • Knowledge and experience in the pharmaceuticals and medicines sector, specializing in testing.

  • Capability to operate independently without close supervision.
  • Combination of physical activities including sitting, standing, and walking.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Position requires frequent or continuous travel for on-the-road duties.
