Overview

The Medical Informatics Specialist supports the connection between healthcare delivery and technology, with a primary emphasis on helping physicians use clinical systems effectively. The role is centered on improving adoption, efficiency, and physician satisfaction while supporting the strategic direction of Kaleida Health’s Medical Informatics Department.

What you will do

This position is responsible for the full lifecycle of clinical information systems work, including planning, analysis, testing, documentation, implementation, and ongoing support. You will partner with physicians and other care providers to make sure technology fits smoothly into clinical workflows, supports evidence-based care, and helps standardize processes across the organization.

The role also focuses on improving clinical outcomes, supporting physician productivity, and contributing to quality initiatives through effective use of technology. In addition, you will act as a bridge between clinicians, IT teams, and business operations to help optimize the Epic EHR platform and other clinical tools.

Other responsibilities include delivering training and day-to-day support to physicians, identifying workflow enhancement opportunities, assisting with better use of clinical systems, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on data collection, clinical content development, and workflow analysis.

Education and credentials

A bachelor’s degree in healthcare or a related discipline is required. A valid New York State driver’s license is also mandatory.

Experience and skills

Experience in healthcare or customer service is required. Strong communication and customer service abilities are essential. Prior exposure to electronic medical record systems, go-live support, clinical implementation, or change management is preferred, with at least 1 year of experience in these areas being an advantage.

Working conditions

This is a full-time onsite role based at Larkin Bldg @ Exchange Street in Buffalo, New York. The position is assigned to the KH Chief Med Information Systems department. Standard hours are 75 bi-weekly, with no weekend or holiday requirement and no on-call responsibility. Scheduled hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The union code is N00 - Non Union KH, the requisition ID is 18931, the grade is EX215, and pay is handled on a bi-weekly basis.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $82,212 to $113,022 per year. Final pay will depend on factors such as experience, qualifications, internal equity, and any applicable collective bargaining agreement.
