Job description
Overview
The Medical Informatics Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting and managing the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems within the hospital. This position involves assisting with system development, upgrades, and maintenance to ensure patients have secure and seamless access to their medical data.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, and maintain hospital EMR applications to ensure smooth system operations.
- Deliver training sessions to users to promote safe and effective use of the EMR system.
- Configure vendor-provided applications and manage system documentation, including specification and procedure development.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand clinical workflows and document user requirements; perform data audits.
- Support EMR-related requests through system testing, creation of test plans and data, and provide onsite user assistance during implementation phases.
- Participate in scheduled on-call duties for system application troubleshooting and issue tracking.
- Employ systems development methodologies to resolve problems and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Adhere to organizational guidelines and change management processes with effective verbal and written communication.
- Represent the team in workgroups and committees as needed.
- Perform additional tasks as delegated by the Academic Informatics Office.
Candidate Qualifications
- Possess a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Allied Health, Nursing, Computer Science, Arts, Business, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluent in English and at least one additional local language.
- Exhibit a positive, team-oriented attitude and a willingness to learn new skills and tools.
- Strong communication capabilities, both verbal and written.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to manage and disseminate large datasets accurately and attentively.
- No prior professional experience required; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
