About the Company

Synchrony Group, LLC is a privately held organization based in West Chester, Pennsylvania, working across a connected network of companies focused on medical communications. The company aims to deliver high-quality services and products that support clients while creating meaningful opportunities for employees and contributing to better patient outcomes.

The organization brings together medical-scientific, clinical, creative, commercial, and industry specialists. Its healthcare communications team develops branded and disease-state marketing and promotional initiatives. The culture is described as collaborative, high-energy, and supportive, with an emphasis on respect, shared purpose, and professional growth.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Editorial Director, the Medical Editor is responsible for maintaining the editorial accuracy and quality of medical communications materials. This includes reviewing content for clarity, consistency, grammar, style, factual accuracy, and alignment with client requirements, the AMA Manual of Style, internal standards, and brand guidelines. The role also involves Veeva Vault submissions, reference management, and permissions support.

What You Will Do

  • Review, fact-check, edit, and proofread medical communications assets such as slide decks, meeting materials, video scripts, flashcards, and websites.
  • Validate layouts and digital content against manuscript drafts and approved client files to confirm completeness and accuracy.
  • Track and verify edits as they are incorporated into layout files or digital programs throughout the project workflow.
  • Check reference lists for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify when reproduction permissions are needed for figures or tables, obtain those permissions from publishers, and relay associated costs to Account Services for client communication when needed.
  • Prepare materials for submission through Veeva Vault.
  • Act as a resource for client style rules, AMA style, grammar, usage, and agency editorial standards.
  • Build, update, and follow style guides at the project, product, and client level to keep materials consistent.
  • Work with Medical Services and Creative Services colleagues to confirm content accuracy and communicate editorial feedback.
  • Support teammates with editorial issue-solving, troubleshooting, and idea development.
  • Participate in product status meetings to stay current on active and upcoming editorial work.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong command of grammar, usage, and editorial best practices.
  • Working familiarity with AMA style and medical writing conventions.
  • Ability to manage several assignments at once in a deadline-driven setting.
  • Careful attention to detail and comfort working under tight timelines.
  • Understanding of scientific concepts and the ability to learn more complex subject matter.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to adapt to content management systems and electronic review tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional judgment, confidentiality, and accountability.

Requirements

The role calls for a bachelor’s degree, with science or English backgrounds preferred, along with 3 to 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical or medical editing. Experience as an editor within a medical communications agency or a pharmaceutical marketing team is preferred, along with familiarity with agency workflows and electronic document review systems.

Working Conditions

This is an onsite position and may require extra hours or nontraditional working times depending on client demands.
