Role overview

This position is for a courier driver who will move medical specimens and related healthcare materials along a set route using a personal vehicle. The work is fast-paced and time-sensitive, with a direct impact on patient care by helping ensure specimens reach laboratory facilities safely and on schedule.

Compensation and benefits

The role pays $19.00 per hour and includes mileage reimbursement.

Key responsibilities

  • Use your own vehicle to transport medical items such as specimens, supplies, and confidential documents.
  • Pick up, load, secure, and unload items in line with company handling procedures.
  • Deliver items to the correct destination according to route and timing instructions.
  • Keep specimens, medicines, equipment, and documents safe and properly maintained while in your care.
  • Scan route locations and report missing barcodes to the Assistant GM.
  • Work to maintain at least a 98% location-scanning rate on assigned routes.
  • Inform the Assistant GM if route timings cannot be met or if customers request alternate times from those listed in NextStop.
  • Keep accurate, readable delivery records and collect customer signatures when required.
  • Stay in contact with dispatch and management about delays, status updates, and delivery changes.
  • Communicate in a polite and professional manner with customers and coworkers.
  • Support training of new team members when needed.
  • Help Assistant GMs with additional tasks as required.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation and a clean driving record are required.
  • Ability to follow safety and efficiency guidelines while driving a personal vehicle.
  • Must be HIPAA and OSHA compliant at all times; training will be provided.
  • Should be comfortable using GPS or maps to find customer locations.
  • Basic math ability is needed.
  • Must be able to read, understand, interpret, and carry out simple instructions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are important.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to finish daily tasks.
  • High attention to detail, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
  • Command of written and spoken English is required.
