Job description
Role Overview
This position is open to applicants located in the Tucson, Arizona area. The role demands a highly organized individual with strong time management skills, prior experience in medical billing, and the initiative to work independently as well as collaboratively. Flexibility to undertake various tasks beyond standard billing duties is essential.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor and follow up on insurance claims and payment postings, including denial reviews.
- Collaborate with coding staff to prepare appeals and correct claim errors.
- Communicate with patients, manage records submissions, and conduct benefits reviews.
- Perform charge entry, compose appeal letters, and manage Letters of Medical Necessity (LOMN).
- Undertake additional projects and tasks based on departmental needs within management-set deadlines.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of ICD-10 and HCPCS coding systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google-based web platforms.
- Experience with Accounts Receivable follow-ups is preferred.
- Collections experience is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Physical Therapy claims is desirable.
- Ability to multitask effectively and maintain a strong attention to detail.
- Minimum of two years of hands-on medical billing experience (excluding academic externships or schooling).
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting pay is $16 per hour or higher based on experience.
- Flexible daytime schedules with no mandatory overtime or weekend work.
- Work options include onsite, hybrid, and remote (remote available after completing onsite training/probation, subject to management approval).
