Dolphin Oilfield Equipment Services, based in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi, provides industrial services to ADNOC group companies, EGA, Borouge, and other key players in the oil & gas, power, and industrial sectors across the UAE. The company specializes in the manufacturing, servicing, and retubing of heat exchangers, performing EPC-stage site work including structural, piping, and equipment installation, as well as conducting shutdown and turnaround maintenance operations both onshore and offshore.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to manage all aspects of heat exchanger servicing and execution of shutdown/turnaround projects. Responsibilities include retubing, tube plugging, bundle repairs, cleaning, and testing at our Mussafah workshop, along with site-based activities such as bundle removal, piping work, and valve replacement within client turnaround schedules onshore and offshore.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage complete heat exchanger servicing workflows: from job receipt or site inspections, repair planning, execution, testing to documentation and dispatch.
• Carry out inspections of shell and tube bundles and deliver condition reports with photographs and measurements within 1-2 days; assist with quotation estimates for labor and materials.
• Perform retubing, tube plugging, bundle repairs, gasket replacements, chemical and mechanical cleaning, plus hydrostatic and pneumatic testing.
• Lead shutdown and turnaround operations including bundle removal and installation, site piping, and valve replacements within outage periods.
• Advise on repair versus replacement options and coordinate client approvals for scope changes after opening units.
• Supervise supervisors, technicians, and multinational teams across different shifts; be ready for rapid deployment.
• Ensure quality documentation such as Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), dimensional and test records, condition reports, and final dossiers are maintained.
• Adhere strictly to permit-to-work protocols, confined-space safety, and client health, safety, and environmental standards on ADNOC-type sites.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering, with significant practical skills favored over formal credentials.
• 3 to 7 years of experience in heat exchanger servicing, static equipment maintenance, or turnaround contracting.
• Proficiency with shell and tube heat exchangers including retubing, tube plugging, bundle repairs, and leak/pressure testing.
• Practical experience handling piping and valve installation or replacement on site.
• Background in shutdown and turnaround operations within refineries, gas plants, or petrochemical facilities and familiarity with permit-to-work and confined-space environments.
• Competent in English to communicate effectively with clients and prepare site reports.

Desirable Qualifications

• Knowledge of TEMA standards, API 660/661 codes, and plate heat exchanger refurbishment.
• Valid ADNOC site passes and inductions; offshore work experience is advantageous.
• Experience in scope estimation and pricing, along with leadership capabilities for night-shift crews.

Work Schedule

Please note that during shutdown seasons, the role involves night shifts, extended hours, consecutive working days, and rapid mobilization within 48 hours across locations including UAE, Oman, and Qatar. Between campaigns, work is based in the Mussafah workshop. This role suits candidates comfortable with dynamic and intense operational periods alternating with quieter workshop times.
