Role overview

This Mechanical Fitter position is based in Leixlip, County Kildare, Ireland. The role involves hands-on mechanical and pipework installation, testing, and commissioning support across construction and services environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out pipe bending, joining, fitting, inspection, testing, and fault diagnosis.
  • Work with a range of materials and systems, including fuel storage and distribution, fire control, natural gas and LPG, cold and hot water systems, heating, sanitation, compressed air, steam pipework, and calorifiers.
  • Install and maintain services such as cold water storage tanks, mains and hot water services, flues, watermains, and fire systems.
  • Support pre-commissioning activities for plumbing, mechanical services, and air handling units.
  • Handle industrial and process gases and liquids, medical gases, and electrical controls linked to heating and air conditioning systems.
  • Read drawings and specifications, plan work, and perform set-out and measurement tasks.
  • Carry out fabrication and joining tasks such as bracket fabrication, oxy-acetylene cutting and welding, bronze welding, soldering, MMA welding, and TIG welding.
  • Use tools safely and effectively, and work with associated site activities such as scaffolding and rigging.

Required qualifications and experience

  • National Craft Certificate is required.
  • Safe Pass certification is required.
  • Manual Handling certification is required.

  • Ability to stay effective under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Capability to contribute to and drive large-scale projects.
  • Previous construction-sector experience is desirable.
