Role Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer based in Toronto, Ontario, you will contribute to industrial and building-focused engineering assignments from early concept through completion. The role involves technical design, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, site involvement, and support throughout project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to identifying client needs and defining project scope.
- Examine client-provided specifications and technical requirements.
- Prepare mechanical designs for building systems and utility systems.
- Create conceptual, preliminary, and detailed layouts, drawings, and specifications.
- Draft technical studies and analytical reports to back up design submissions.
- Check shop drawings for compliance and help develop engineering standards.
- Visit project locations and carry out site surveys as needed.
- Support construction oversight and perform document as well as field reviews.
- Coordinate project deliverables and help manage execution.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across offices in North America.
- Stay current with applicable local codes, standards, and industry practices.
- Maintain internal reference standards and best-practice documentation.
- Support constructive collaboration with clients and consultants from other disciplines.
Requirements
- 6 to 12 years of experience in building HVAC, plumbing and drainage, refrigeration, steam, chilled water, hot water, and fire protection systems design, or in some of these areas.
- PEO registration is considered an advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is required.
- Experience in industrial plant engineering or consulting engineering for pharmaceutical and/or food and beverage projects is an asset.
- Background in leading design work or on-site construction/commissioning assignments is preferred.
- Solid understanding of industry, regulatory, local, provincial, and national standards and design criteria.
- Ability to apply standard engineering methods and techniques confidently.
- Willingness to travel to client locations when needed.
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment.
- Experience with Revit MEP is an added advantage.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong technical capability and ability to work across functions with different teams.
