A strong focus on safety, quality, consistency, and professionalism is essential.
Key responsibilities
- Support custom projects involving conveyors, platforms, and other equipment used mainly in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
- Convert layout drawings, sketches, and notes into detailed 3D equipment models.
- Take part in kickoff meetings and work closely with Project Managers and other stakeholders to keep projects moving successfully.
- Own projects from the concept stage through design, fabrication, and final installation.
- Build a strong working knowledge of the product range, preferred methods, and relevant industry standards.
- Provide regular updates on project progress to important stakeholders.
- Contribute to product development, product completion, and continuous improvement efforts by collaborating with the Innovation and Manufacturing teams.
Requirements
- A college diploma or university degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, is preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within a custom manufacturing setting.
- Strong proficiency with SolidWorks or a similar 3D design tool, along with AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks PDM is preferred.
- Experience designing structural or stainless steel products is required.
- Comfort using weldment features and sheet metal tools in 3D software.
- Exposure to conveyor systems or sanitary equipment used in the food industry is ideal.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineers and shop floor personnel.
