Mechanical Design Engineer - Sheet Metal & Sales Support

Overview

We seek a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer proficient in sheet metal fabrication with expertise in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. The role includes design, sales support, and coordination with fabricators, requiring a dynamic individual capable of cross-functional responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Create 3D models and detailed 2D fabrication drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Develop spare parts illustrations, exploded views, and comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Design nesting layouts and generate cutting files for laser/plasma cutting.
• Communicate cutting instructions to fabricators ensuring clarity and precision.
• Guarantee that all designs are practical, cost-efficient, and manufacturable.
• Support sales by providing technical documentation, design inputs, and layout recommendations.
• Engage with customers to comprehend requirements and assist in proposal development.
• Coordinate technical aspects during pre- and post-sales phases.
• Contribute to costing, estimation, and customization aligned with sales needs.
• Maintain follow-ups with fabricators to ensure timely, accurate job completion.
• Conduct on-site inspections to verify quality and dimensions, updating drawings as necessary.

Technical and Soft Skills

• Advanced skills in SolidWorks, particularly the sheet metal module.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for detailed 2D drafting.
• Experience in sheet metal fabrication processes including bending, welding, and finishing.
• Familiarity with nesting software like SigmaNEST or ProNest is advantageous.
• Capable of preparing and delivering cutting files to CNC operators.
• Understanding of engineering tolerances, fits, and GD&T principles is beneficial.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Self-driven with eagerness to learn, take initiative, and multitask effectively.
• Responsible, adaptable, and able to work independently.
• Comfortable visiting sites for inspection and coordinating with external parties.

Qualification and Eligibility

Applicants should hold a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. While 1+ years of relevant sheet metal design experience is preferred, candidates new to the field with a strong design capability and willingness to travel are encouraged to apply.

Additional Requirements

• Flexibility to work both in an office and onsite environments.
• Basic proficiency in MS Office and communication platforms such as email and WhatsApp.
• Experience or ability in vendor coordination.

Compensation

The remuneration ranges from 300,000 to 480,000 INR per annum, commensurate with experience and industry benchmarks.
