Job description

Position Summary

As a Meat Associate at Walmart Canada, you will have the opportunity to enhance your skills within a fast-moving retail setting. Your primary role involves providing excellent customer service by reflecting Walmart's core values, maintaining a clean, orderly, and well-stocked meat department, and supporting daily sales efforts. You will contribute to a fresh and welcoming shopping environment for every customer.

Key Duties

  • Organize and maintain the department to ensure cleanliness, proper zoning, and customer readiness at all times.
  • Regularly rotate stock and remove any expired or unsatisfactory products from inventory.
  • Guarantee accurate pricing and signage by following established procedures for ordering, markdowns, clearance, and labeling.
  • Comply strictly with food safety guidelines and cold chain standards, including checks of temperature and product sell-by dates.
  • Take customer orders and prepare deli products such as meat, cheese, and fried chicken using various kitchen equipment safely.
  • Observe health and safety protocols to ensure a safe and hygienic workspace.
  • Demonstrate schedule flexibility by working varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business demands.

Challenges to Expect

  • Effectively manage high task volumes in a fast-paced environment, including overnight shifts, ensuring energy and focus are maintained.
  • Handle significant restocking and organizational duties with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting inventory up to 50 lbs, and repetitive stocking and zoning activities.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this role is $16.45.
