It is now looking for an experienced Mattress Merchandiser to help take the sleep category to its next stage of development.

Role Overview

In this position, you will guide the selection, development, and commercial results of the sleep product range. The role connects product research and development with retail performance, making sure the mattress mix reflects market demand, supports healthy margins, and creates an excellent sleep experience for customers.

Core Responsibilities

• Track local and international sleep trends, with attention to materials such as cooling technologies and sustainable fibres, as well as changing wellness preferences.
• Study competitor offers, including pricing, coil technology, and warranty terms, to keep the assortment competitive.
• Build a well-balanced product assortment across entry, mid-range, and premium tiers, covering innerspring, memory foam, and hybrid constructions.
• Convert market opportunities into technical product briefs for R&D and manufacturing teams, defining desired feel, performance, and target retail pricing.
• Evaluate prototypes and provide detailed feedback on appearance, edge support, and motion isolation before products move into mass production.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturers on material specifications, delivery timelines, and exclusive product features.
• Set pricing approaches that support strong gross development value while remaining relevant to the target customer base.
• Monitor performance indicators such as sell-through, stock rotation, and returns to keep the category healthy.
• Plan the transition of older models through promotions or floor sample clearances to create space for new launches.
• Shape the sleep gallery layout so customer flow and product storytelling are improved, including emphasis on eco-friendly materials or medical-grade support where relevant.
• Create training content for sales consultants so technical details like wire gauge and foam density can be explained in customer-friendly language.
• Support the marketing team by helping prepare accurate and engaging product copy for online and printed materials.
• Support procurement and logistics activities, including supplier selection, sourcing, contract negotiation, purchasing, issue resolution, risk handling, cost reduction, warehouse coordination, delivery efficiency, and service quality.
• Work toward category growth, margin improvement, and healthier inventory levels as key success measures.

Requirements

• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in retail merchandising, product development, or a similar function; experience in furniture or other premium consumer goods is preferred.
• Strong analytical ability, with solid MS Excel and data analysis skills for tracking sales patterns and forecasting inventory demand.
• Good understanding of the industry, market sensitivity, and an eye for design and emerging lifestyle trends in home and wellness.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect technical manufacturers and customer-facing sales teams.
