Job description
About the organisation
Royal Hospital Chelsea, founded in 1681 by King Charles II, has long served as a lasting national expression of appreciation for the soldiers who have served the country. It is also the historic home of the Chelsea Pensioners, a role it has held since 1692. The organisation’s mission continues to centre on making sure those who have served receive ongoing support.
Role overview
An experienced Marketing Officer is sought to help shape and deliver marketing activity that supports the organisation’s strategic priorities. This position sits within the Marketing and Communications team and offers the chance to work for a heritage institution with a strong public profile and meaningful social purpose.
The right person will bring a strategic approach, hands-on campaign delivery experience, and a strong background in multi-channel marketing and email communications. Experience within a nationally recognised organisation in the military, charity, cultural, or public sector environment would be especially valuable.
Where this role sits
You will be part of a proactive marketing and communications team focused on strengthening the Royal Hospital’s reputation, expanding fundraising income, and reaching new audiences through thoughtful, measurable, and emotionally engaging communications.
Your contribution will help secure the future of the Royal Hospital Chelsea by connecting supporters, donors, and the veteran community with compelling stories that drive involvement and demonstrate real impact.
Key duties
You will manage and deliver a mix of digital and offline marketing campaigns for stakeholders across fundraising, commercial, and heritage activity. This includes work supporting the Chelsea Pensioners Veterans Outreach programme, which is designed to reduce loneliness and social isolation among older veterans throughout the UK.
You will also oversee e-newsletters and supporter journeys using Dotdigital, while reviewing results, trends, and insights to strengthen future performance.
Additional information
This is a hybrid position, with a requirement to work on site for at least three days each week.
Application instructions
Applicants are asked to provide a CV along with a covering letter of no more than 500 words.
