Organization Overview

The Global Special Operations Forces Foundation (GSOF) is a nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3). Its mission is to strengthen an international network that brings together military, government, commercial, and education partners. The foundation works to advance Special Operations Forces (SOF) capability and partnerships in response to complex, global, networked threats. By encouraging collaboration across sectors, GSOF promotes innovation, knowledge sharing, and interoperability within SOF communities around the world.

This position sits within a mission-focused team operating where defense, policy, and industry intersect. The role reports to the Director of Marketing and Sales and supports the Marketing, Sales, and Core Events teams through a mix of operational, design, and administrative work, with a strong emphasis on content development and distribution.

Role Summary

The Marketing Manager for Core Events owns the marketing execution for core events and huddles, helping shape the brand, build audience communication plans, create event assets, and coordinate vendors and consultants. The role also supports sales enablement, digital content operations, and live-event storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee marketing schedules, independent consultants, and vendor relationships.
  • Protect and maintain the visual identity of the core event brand.
  • Drive marketing strategy and content creation for Global SOF core events and huddles, including branding kits, print and digital graphics, email campaigns, distribution lists, social media, advertising, and analytics.
  • Own development and updates for the event mobile app.
  • Coordinate event photography and video production, including vendor oversight when needed.
  • Manage website and social content across GSOF channels such as Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other platforms.
  • Create and manage event signage, promotional pieces, and other collateral while coordinating external vendors as required.
  • Develop presentations that clearly communicate event themes and messaging.
  • Set audience segmentation rules and communication controls to reduce oversaturation across campaigns.
  • Run the marketing Monday.com workspace for each event, tracking deadlines, deliverables, approvals, and campaign status.
  • Build and manage automated marketing sequences and direct mail efforts.
  • Support sales enablement by producing sponsor pitch decks, sales kits, digital brochures, and partner materials.
  • Ensure delivery of contracted sponsor assets across website, email, mobile app, and social media placements.
  • Source, procure, and design event merchandise, apparel, challenge coins, lanyards, custom gifts, and other branded items.
  • Lead live-event content activities such as podcasts, VIP and speaker interviews, on-site capture, and real-time storytelling.
  • Keep a central repository of approved templates, sponsor assets, brand materials, and internal design resources.
  • Support visual planning for large-scale physical production, including stage backdrops, branded environments, and broader event experience design.
  • Provide surge support to marketing teammates when workload increases.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Education in Communications or Media Production, such as a BA, AA, or certificate.
  • Experience in Special Operations or military settings is helpful, though not required.
  • Strong procurement and sourcing experience, including managing domestic and international vendors across multiple service categories.
  • Proven account management skills with the ability to handle professional relationships and demanding expectations.
  • Excellent writing ability with the flexibility to tailor tone for military, industry, and corporate audiences.
  • Comfortable using AI tools as part of efficient day-to-day work.
  • Able to manage time effectively and work independently in a remote environment.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, evolving team setting.

Desired Software Experience

  • Google Workspace, especially Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
  • Canva.
  • Monday.com or a comparable task management platform.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud tools, particularly Premiere Pro and Audition.
  • WordPress website development.
  • CVENT or similar event management software.
  • Constant Contact or related marketing automation tools.
  • re:Members or a similar association management system.
  • AI systems and prompt writing.
