Job description
About IPX Power
IPX Power is a clean energy business that develops, owns, and operates major energy assets, supplying affordable and dependable electricity to utilities and other customers. The company is expanding quickly, with 4.3 GW of solar PV and 8.8 GWh of battery storage either under construction or already operating, along with additional projects progressing through different development stages.
It is a profitable, well-funded, independent power producer that has already delivered billions of dollars in large-scale clean energy infrastructure. IPX was recently established as a spin-out of Intersect following Google’s acquisition of that business, and is backed by long-term investors TPG Rise Climate, Climate Adaptive Infrastructure, and Greenbelt Capital Partners.
The organization is built on collaboration, creativity, and strong operational execution. It is seeking people who want to help develop, build, and operate one of the world’s largest portfolios of renewable energy and storage assets.
Role Overview
IPX Power is looking for a Marketing and Communications Lead to shape and run the company’s marketing, public messaging, social media, and internal communications efforts. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this person will help define how the company is represented in the renewable energy market, in the communities surrounding its solar and battery projects, and across all internal and external channels.
The role requires someone who can turn highly technical topics into clear, engaging stories for use in project communications, digital content, internal updates, board materials, and more. It combines strategic planning with hands-on content creation and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement integrated communication and marketing programs that advance business objectives in the renewable energy sector.
- Draft, edit, and oversee the production of marketing materials such as case studies, press announcements, and brand storytelling content.
- Maintain a consistent brand tone, visual style, and message across all internal and external communication channels.
- Own the social media approach, support website content updates, and manage crisis communication planning and response when needed.
- Develop relationships with journalists, pitch story ideas, and coordinate media outreach to build positive visibility for the company.
- Lead internal communications, company events, and culture-building initiatives that support how teams work together.
- Prepare concise updates, launch summaries, and talking points to keep employees aligned on strategy, priorities, and business changes.
- Measure campaign and communications results, then refine tactics using performance data and insights.
- Coordinate with external agencies, designers, writers, and other creative partners to deliver program goals.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in marketing and communications in a fast-moving environment.
- Renewable energy experience will be considered a strong advantage.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to translate ideas into clear outcomes.
- Familiarity with social media, renewable energy industry organizations, and relevant journalists.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work across teams.
- A sharp eye for detail and solid analytical thinking.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced setting and solving problems quickly as priorities change.
Total Rewards
The company offers total compensation of USD $170,000 to $195,000, which includes base pay plus bonus.
- 100% premium coverage for medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents.
- Unlimited paid time off, plus two company-wide breaks for the Fourth of July and year-end.
- Up to 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave, with an additional 6 weeks for birth parents, plus family planning support through Carrot and Maven.
- Free access to Spring Health, including 5 therapy and psychiatry sessions, along with a Headspace account through Wellhub+ for mindfulness and meditation.
- A 3% non-elective employer contribution to your 401k or RRSP.
- A monthly $150 food stipend.
- Monthly reimbursement of $150 for cell phone and internet expenses.
- Pet insurance support.
- Complete home office setup.
- Free access to UrbanSitter with $625 in quarterly paid company credits, plus access to ActiveHero and One Medical.
