Role Overview

The Marine Rigger position, based full-time onsite in Dubai, involves the safe handling, lifting, and securing of heavy equipment and ship components within the drydock and shipyard. Responsibilities include inspecting rigging gear, preparing lifting apparatus such as slings, shackles, and wire ropes, and collaborating closely with crane operators and supervisors to carry out lifting tasks according to plans and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain rigging equipment to ensure safety and operational readiness.
  • Set up and adjust rigging hardware including slings, shackles, wire ropes, and chain blocks.
  • Coordinate effectively with crane operators and supervisors for planned lifts, adhering to all safety guidelines.
  • Interpret load charts, lifting plans, and perform calculations for safe working loads.
  • Participate in safety meetings, report hazards, and contribute to continuous safety compliance.
  • Support ship repair, construction, and outfitting activities through efficient rigging operations.
  • Work in physically demanding outdoor shipyard environments, following strict safety protocols.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Proficient in handling rigging tools and equipment including wire ropes, slings, shackles, and chain blocks.
  • Sound knowledge of lifting operations, load calculations, and mechanical principles related to rigging.
  • Familiarity with shipyard operations, marine structures, and industrial work settings.
  • Strong commitment to safety standards and ability to identify hazards in marine and industrial contexts.
  • Ability to read and understand lifting plans, technical drawings, and detailed work instructions.
  • Physical capability to carry out manual tasks, including working at heights and in diverse weather conditions.
  • Effective communication skills necessary for teamwork and coordination during lifts.
  • Prior experience as a rigger in shipyards, offshore platforms, or heavy industry environments is preferred.
  • Certifications or vocational training in rigging, lifting operations, or related marine/industrial disciplines are advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and weekends as project needs dictate.
