Job description
Role Overview and Key Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Engineer will specialize in AeroEngine and Gas Turbine production processes, focusing on CNC programming, process optimization, and quality management compliant with aerospace standards. The role demands expertise in managing material review activities and ensuring zero-defect manufacturing aligned with Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney guidelines.
Technical Responsibilities
- Create and optimize CNC programs using G-code and improve toolpath efficiency.
- Develop and utilize CMM programming and inspection methodologies.
- Employ NX CAM and VERICUT software along with Post Processor and Post Builder tools for manufacturing process planning.
- Possess proficiency in CAD/CAM platforms such as CATIA V5 and SolidWorks.
- Interpret blueprints effectively while applying GD&T principles and tolerance stack-up analyses.
- Implement quality frameworks including APQP, PPAP, FAIR, and CAPP procedures.
- Conduct supplier quality audits and support initiatives focused on zero-defect manufacturing standards.
- Manage concession controls, track non-conformance events, quality notifications, and handle MRB operations.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies along with process capability analysis to enhance production efficiency.
Additional Information
This position requires ensuring compliance with aerospace manufacturing standards specific to Pratt & Whitney Gas Turbine design and relevant certifications. Active participation in supplier audits and continual process improvement initiatives is vital.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5 to 14 years of relevant experience in aerospace manufacturing or precision engineering environments.
- Hands-on expertise in Gas Turbine or AeroEngine manufacturing operations, CNC and CMM programming, and process planning.
- Certifications in NX CAM, Lean Six Sigma, or compliance standards such as AS9100 are considered advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving capabilities and excellent communication skills.
