Manual QA Tester

Position Overview

Join our team as a Manual QA Tester supporting various delivery groups focusing on insurance policy software applications. This 12-month contract role requires a 37.5-hour work week and is based in Raleigh, NC, with a preference for hybrid work (2 days onsite per week) but fully remote candidates living within the US who can work core hours from 8am to 5pm EST are also considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze user stories and acceptance criteria to craft test scenarios.
• Develop and implement manual test cases and scripts.
• Conduct smoke, functional, regression, and integration tests.
• Utilize SQL for validating and verifying application data.
• Document and retest defects until they are resolved.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and business teams.
• Engage actively in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning.
• Ensure software releases meet quality standards prior to deployment to production.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of software quality assurance experience, particularly in manual testing.
• Proven ability to draft comprehensive test cases and scripts.
• Strong skills in interpreting acceptance criteria to inform testing approaches.
• Experience with smoke, functional, regression, end-to-end testing, and user acceptance support.
• Proficiency in performing SQL queries for data validation and troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Preferred Experience

• Background in insurance sectors such as Workers Compensation, Property & Casualty, Life, or Health insurance.
• Experience with insurance policy administration or related financial services applications.
• Knowledge of Azure DevOps platforms.
• Previous exposure to automation testing, with future opportunities available.
