This position plays a key role in building productive relationships across the oversight and advocacy space to support reform that is open, responsible, and transparent.
The role also helps ensure service delivery is evidence-based and accountable by organising responses to reviews, enquiries, recommendations, and reports, while maintaining strong governance arrangements to monitor and deliver outcomes.
Key duties
- Provide timely, accurate, and well-considered advice and analysis in response to requests from oversight and advocacy bodies, reviews, reports, and recommendations, while meeting statutory deadlines where required.
- Represent the department and lead collaboration with a broad range of organisations, agencies, and offices.
- Prepare submissions, briefs, correspondence, and project materials that reflect a strategic and evidence-based approach.
- Lead and deliver complex, sensitive, and high-stakes strategic projects that support youth detention centre reform priorities.
- Carry out and/or oversee research into youth detention centre issues and other practices that may influence departmental policy and operations, including assessing findings and identifying suitable courses of action.
- Maintain governance systems and tracking tools that support the prompt implementation, monitoring, and reporting of recommendations and project results.
- Manage the Strategic Projects and Oversight Liaison team, including workforce planning, capability development, and financial and people-management responsibilities.
- Contribute actively to the governance and strategic priorities of the department.
