Job description

Role Overview

Amazon is seeking an experienced Manager in Real Estate to join its India team, primarily situated in Bengaluru, with responsibilities centered on supporting property acquisitions across Amazon's India network. This position requires frequent travel and reports to the Senior Manager of Real Estate.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the expansion of Amazon's Dark Store network for the Quick Commerce platform by driving the real estate program vital to business rollout.
  • Collaborate with local teams to establish requirements, negotiate lease agreements including business and legal aspects, conduct onsite property evaluations, perform financial comparisons of lease deals, and oversee project execution.
  • Ensure provision of efficient, cost-effective storage and operational spaces adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Support the overall India warehouse and storage space strategy, maintaining and developing space requirements accordingly.
  • Build and manage a network of brokers and consultants to fulfill diverse building needs.
  • Acquire a deep understanding of real estate development regulations relevant to assigned areas.
  • Maintain effective communication with various internal stakeholders such as Finance (local and central), IT, Legal, Operations, Facilities, and Engineering teams.
  • Manage relationships with landlords, perform lease negotiations, oversee contractor activities, and address escalated issues beyond routine operations.
  • Handle alteration management projects and work towards reducing fixed building-related costs.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification; alternatively, 2 or more years of experience working at Amazon.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Flexibility to work schedules that may include weekends, nights, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in project management.
  • Experience maintaining material handling equipment and integrated systems.
  • Familiarity with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) integrators.
  • Prior exposure to e-commerce fulfillment, logistics, or large-scale retail real estate sectors.
  • Well-established network of landlords, brokers, and consultants in Indian markets.
