Job Overview

As a Manager - Planning, you will play a key role overseeing the planning and scheduling aspects of large-scale construction projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines and mitigating risks that may impact completion. This position demands close collaboration with contractors’ planners and site supervision teams to monitor progress and maintain updated and accurate construction schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehend the project scope, quantities, and logical sequencing across construction disciplines.
  • Perform detailed review, analysis, and oversight of procurement and construction schedules using Critical Path Method software for contractors, subcontractors, and utility providers.
  • Collaborate daily with contractor planners to monitor or revise baseline work programmes.
  • Generate progress reports, graphical timelines, and critical path analyses for periodic status updates.
  • Identify and report risks, opportunities, and mitigation plans to the Project Lead to ensure on-time project delivery.
  • Compare actual site progress with schedules and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Provide early warnings concerning potential delays and recommend necessary actions.
  • Attend site visits and facilitate workshops with site teams to capture real-time project status.
  • Conduct independent site inspections to verify contractor progress against schedules and report accordingly.
  • Support the Cost Control Team by analyzing programme-related risks and opportunities tied to change orders and variations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records to assist in evaluating contractor claims and variations.
  • Assist in negotiations, arbitration, and dispute resolution processes related to project timelines.
  • Review time impact analyses, delay claims, and construct detailed event chronologies for dispute defense.
  • Investigate potential delay events, assess concurrent delays, and prepare both prospective and retrospective delay analyses.
  • Present extension of time claims with full understanding of contractual mechanisms.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 20 years of proven experience supervising and administering planning activities for large-scale projects within the Middle East’s consulting sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
