Position Overview

This full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA, involves collaboration with senior business development and research colleagues to engage pharmaceutical partners, oversee current alliances, and address evolving company requirements. The ideal candidate will possess robust experience in leading business development efforts, preferably combining scientific acumen with business insight and prior exposure in life sciences within academia, biotech/pharma, or consultancy. Strong interpersonal and communication abilities and a team-oriented mindset are critical.

Key Duties

  • Implement business development strategies under senior guidance.
  • Analyze the oncology biotech partnership environment and track industry trends to inform leadership.
  • Perform competitive landscape assessments to guide strategic priorities.
  • Discover out-licensing and partnership opportunities and maintain a centralized opportunity database.
  • Facilitate engagement with potential partners, including meeting coordination and follow-ups.
  • Manage due diligence tasks, organizing data rooms, document handling, and information flow across departments.
  • Collaborate with the Legal team on contract preparation, review, and execution.
  • Interpret and manage existing agreements alongside Legal and Business Development leads.
  • Create and maintain professional corporate and business development materials for presentations and communications.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in business development within life sciences in academia, biotech, pharma, or consulting.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in collaborative settings.
  • Scientific background with comprehensive knowledge of drug discovery and development processes.
  • Minimum educational requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business; a Master's in Business is advantageous.
  • At least two years of relevant business development or alliance management experience in life sciences.
  • Strong oral and written communication capabilities.
