Role overview

This position is for an Operations Manager in Singapore who will guide a ground operations team and work closely with both internal teams and external partners. The role is focused on keeping operations running smoothly, meeting business targets, and staying aligned with company standards and regulatory obligations.

What you will do

  • Lead, hire, develop, coach, and motivate team members while managing performance and handling the full employee lifecycle for the division, including hiring, development, discipline, and exit management.
  • Oversee day-to-day operational output so shipments are collected, sorted, and dispatched correctly and within required timeframes.
  • Make sure the team understands current procedures, company standards, and regulatory requirements that affect the operation.
  • Review audits, records, and existing processes to confirm standards are followed, identify gaps or unusual variances, and implement corrective actions to improve compliance and operations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports, presentations, and updates for senior leadership, while maintaining effective information and record management systems.
  • Track key performance indicators such as service quality, transit time, loss and damage, and cost efficiency, and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Plan and schedule resources, including rostering, so priorities are met and both short- and medium-term staffing needs are covered.
  • Set targets, communicate goals to the team, and provide progress updates to staff and management.
  • Lead team projects and initiatives using project management methods and tools, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Drive continuous improvement through Quality Driven Management principles and help build a customer-focused culture centered on dependable service and quality.
  • Manage the department or site budget, take steps to control costs, and support vendor management and procurement where needed.

Operational scope

The role may also touch areas such as on-road handling, dispatch, service assurance, network control, transport scheduling, customer service, contract management and sourcing, domestic special services, weight and balance, commercial airline management, spot management, lift operations, hub control centre activities, clearance and brokerage operations, clearance administration for inbound and outbound cargo, export controls, dangerous goods, cross-border linehaul, vendor management, admin and support functions, ramp weight and balance, pickup and delivery, domestic hub operations, linehaul operations, road linehaul including fleet management, domestic GSP management, property and facilities, quality management, contingency planning, vehicle and equipment maintenance, and return-to-work support.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in any discipline is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in logistics, express courier, transport, process engineering, industrial engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A valid Singapore Class 3 or 3A driving licence is needed, or the ability to obtain or convert one immediately.
  • You should bring a data-led approach with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent planning, organization, time management, and decision-making skills are important for this role.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively are essential.
