About the Role

Join BAE Systems Maritime Solutions Contracts team focused on supporting the US Navy's 7th Fleet, ensuring continuous maintenance for Forward Deployed Naval Forces in the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans. This critical program supports the Navy’s global presence and force protection within the 7th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR).

The Contract Manager will join a specialized team managing a complex IDIQ contract, reporting directly to the Director of Contracts. Responsibilities include leading a diverse cross-functional team supporting the Navy’s Lead Maintenance Activity (LMA) in the 7th Fleet’s AOR. This role demands attention to detail, strategic planning, data analysis, proposal preparation and review, negotiation expertise, effective communication, subcontract performance monitoring, and program deliverable management.

This individual must be self-driven and able to thrive in a dynamic environment, often requiring availability 24/7 to address emergent and operational maintenance requirements alongside the Director of Contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute disciplined change management practices to proactively initiate change orders.
  • Guide negotiation strategies and resolve disputes between BAE Systems and customers.
  • Develop innovative solutions for complex contracting and business challenges aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership, training, and guidance to cross-functional teams; lead briefings and complex negotiations; develop contract management strategies mitigating risks.
  • Direct teams in addressing major contractual, compliance, and business issues during proposal and contract execution phases.
  • Motivate team members to apply effective scope control strategies, enabling early identification of changes for equitable contract adjustments.
  • Engage with government contracting and procurement officials as needed.
  • Ensure program deliverables meet cost and schedule targets.
  • Promote a safe work environment in accordance with safety policies.
  • Undertake special assignments and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years relevant experience.
  • Proven expertise in business negotiations with high-level organizational stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills to influence favorable outcomes.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing change management processes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, and team-building abilities within complex cross-functional environments.
  • Superior writing skills for clear reports, correspondence, and documentation of policies and procedures.
  • Capability to manage organizational and contractual change effectively.
  • Experience with Fixed Price contracts.
  • In-depth knowledge of FAR/DFAR regulations.
  • Skilled in handling complex contracts and proposal development/execution.
  • Ability to professionally engage with all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in interpreting business periodicals, professional journals, technical documents, solicitations, and governmental regulations.
  • Meticulous compliance with import/export regulations under ITAR/EAR.
  • Strong analytical skills for ensuring compliance and timely deliverable submissions.
  • Business acumen with expertise in risk management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years Fixed Price contract experience.
  • Experience contracting naval vessel maintenance (NAVSEA Standard Items).
  • Certifications such as CFCM or CPCM (NCMA) or CCM (IACCM) are desirable.
  • Advanced degrees such as Master’s, MBA, or JD are advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary range: $107,952 to $183,518 based on market structures and individual factors like skills, education, and experience.
