About the opportunity
EY is looking for a Manager to join its International Tax and Transaction Services practice in Auckland. In this role, you will work with diverse teams and major organisations on the tax implications of complex, high-profile transactions in the market. The position offers the chance to contribute to meaningful client work while developing your career in a globally connected environment.
The team values integrity, respect, and collaboration, and encourages people to bring their own perspective to the work. Auckland is the preferred location, but applicants with the right experience who are based in Wellington or Christchurch may also be considered.
Key responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary teams supporting buy-side and sell-side transactions, restructures, and international tax advisory assignments.
- Carry out tax due diligence, assess risks and opportunities, and produce clear reports and structuring papers.
- Support clients with tax structuring, modelling, and integration so their commercial goals are achieved.
- Contribute to business growth by preparing presentations, joining client meetings, and applying strong knowledge of client industries.
- Help develop junior team members, encourage teamwork, and maintain high standards of quality and risk management.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge along with strong client-facing and leadership skills. You should have significant experience in tax consulting, ideally from a top-tier accounting firm or a similar setting, with a strong background in international tax, transaction advisory, due diligence, and large corporate income tax compliance, particularly for organisations with an international footprint.
You will also need excellent communication skills, strong project and budget management capability, and experience leading projects and people to deliver high-quality results. A cooperative, inventive approach, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in building relationships and learning from others are important for success.
A degree in Law, Accounting, or Finance is desirable, and professional credentials such as CPA are also preferred. Professionalism, integrity, and commitment to ongoing development are essential.
