Job description
Overview
The Manager of Contracts & Claims plays a critical supporting role within the Project team by ensuring strict adherence to contractual obligations agreed with clients. This role involves identifying potential risks early and assisting Project Managers and Directors in crafting claims and managing contractual communications effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with organizational policies and procedures to promote a compliant and efficient workplace environment.
- Enforce safety and security standards to protect employees and company property.
- Under the guidance of the Director of Commercial Contracts, review various contractual documents thoroughly.
- Support negotiation of contract variations with clients and their representatives alongside Project Managers and Directors.
- Evaluate Variation Orders received from clients, assess associated risks, and suggest amendments for risk mitigation.
- Validate Variation Orders issued by the Commercial team to subcontractors.
- Assist site commercial teams in managing subcontract agreements and vendor claims.
- Help prepare client correspondence, including claim notices and detailed claim documentation, in cooperation with Project Planners concerning Extension of Time claims.
- Maintain and oversee dispatch logs generated by site teams to ensure proper communication with stakeholders.
- Manage the Project risk register and supervise mitigation measures executed by site teams.
- Implement and improve contract management procedures and workflows to enhance business processes, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
- Monitor project compliance regarding Contractor rights and duties.
- Compile monthly reports and dashboards covering Variations, Claims, Disputes, and recommendations.
- Arrange and participate in commercial and contractual meetings involving client agents and internal teams on site.
- Provide advice on project handover and closeout stages and assist in securing Taking Over Performance Certificates.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 to 12 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 7 to 8 years in contracts administration or management roles.
- Proven technical and construction experience in infrastructure project environments.
- Solid understanding of claims processes along with familiarity with legal terms in contracts.
- Preference for conducting communications face-to-face, following supervisory guidance.
- Fluent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Skilled in MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
