Job description
About the Company
Netflix is a global entertainment platform serving more than 300 million paid members across over 190 countries. Its catalog spans series, films, and games in many genres and languages, and members can watch on their own schedule, from anywhere, with the flexibility to pause, resume, or adjust plans at any time.
Role Overview
This position is part of the Ads Finance & Strategy team in Germany and serves as a strategic partner to the Ads Sales organization. The manager will work closely with the Ads Sales country lead and other senior leaders to shape the long-term advertising plan for the DACH region, convert that strategy into annual and multi-year execution plans, and advise local ads leadership on positioning, priority initiatives, and growth direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a detailed, forward-looking understanding of the advertising landscape in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, including market trends, regulatory changes, competitor activity, agency and advertiser behavior, and emerging growth opportunities across verticals, audience segments, formats, and partner channels.
- Work alongside German Ads leadership and cross-functional partners to support the launch and expansion of the ads business in Austria and Switzerland.
- Collaborate with FP&A and the broader Finance & Strategy organization to drive the long-range planning cycle for DACH, including market sizing, target setting, investment evaluations, pricing considerations, and deal strategy tied to revenue objectives.
- Create business cases for major regional initiatives such as new product introductions, strategic partnerships, and new sales approaches, using structured analysis and concise storytelling.
- Track industry movement, competitive shifts, customer patterns, and regulatory developments on an ongoing basis, then translate those signals into practical recommendations for both strategic planning and day-to-day decisions.
- Partner with Ads leadership and Business Operations on go-to-market planning, including how the ad offering should be differentiated and positioned relative to global and local competitors.
- Use data to drive decisions by leading monetization and yield analysis, evaluating CPM trends, inventory delivery, and portfolio monetization, while also supporting pricing and deal choices and building standardized reports for weekly trading, quarterly reviews, and leadership briefings.
- Act as the main Finance & Strategy contact for DACH Sales leadership and adjacent teams such as Market Planning & Operations, Product, Marketing, and Policy, ensuring alignment on priorities and representing the region in global discussions.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of relevant experience, ideally gained in management consulting, media strategy, ad tech, or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of the streaming advertising ecosystem and ad-tech landscape; familiarity with programmatic advertising, SSP/DSP relationships, and auction mechanics is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability, with experience framing ambiguous questions, building financial models, estimating opportunities, and turning findings into clear recommendations.
- Proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders without direct reporting authority.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to craft strategic narratives and prepare executive-level materials such as strategy memos and leadership presentations.
- Fluency in both German and English, spoken and written, to work effectively with local and global partners.
- Comfort making independent decisions within an agreed strategic framework.
- Bachelor's or master's degree with a quantitative focus, or equivalent practical experience; an MBA is considered a plus.
