Role overview

This position is for a Maintenance Technician at the manufacturing site in Auckland, working on a dedicated morning shift. The role supports daily production by keeping machinery and facilities in strong working order so that output remains safe, efficient and compliant. The technician will report to the Maintenance Lead and partner with Production and Quality teams to improve reliability and overall plant performance.

The job calls for solid mechanical capability, hands-on preventative maintenance experience and the ability to diagnose faults quickly. It also involves troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical issues to reduce downtime and keep operations moving.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out both corrective and scheduled maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
  • Assist with capital projects and support initiatives that improve operations.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and pneumatic issues.
  • Help ensure repeatable changeovers and create clear equipment setup procedures.
  • Keep maintenance records accurate, including downtime information and stock count logs.
  • Maintain and update the preventative maintenance system, MEX.
  • Assist in creating and implementing SOPs and related process documents.
  • Support food safety and quality requirements during all maintenance work.
  • Work with different teams to find and deliver efficiency gains.
  • Promote strong health and safety practices across the site.
  • Be available for alternate Saturday shifts when needed.

Requirements

  • Recognised trade qualification at Level 4 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering for manufacturing or industrial settings.
  • Previous maintenance experience in FMCG or a similar environment.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults and solve problems effectively.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, food safety and quality systems.
  • Comfort using computers, including Word, Excel and preferably MEX.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Self-driven, analytical and proactive mindset focused on improvement.
  • Exposure to basic electrical systems or controls would be advantageous.
  • Valid unrestricted work visa.
