Job description

Role overview

JFC’s approach is shaped by its core values: putting people first, encouraging innovation, staying focused on growth, maintaining quality, driving performance, and prioritising safety at all times.

The Maintenance Technician Fitter will help keep the site running smoothly, safely, and efficiently on a daily basis. The role combines routine maintenance, manual handling, and general support duties to maintain a clean and well-organised working environment for employees and visitors.

Key duties

  • Carry out the work plan provided by the supervisor each day.
  • Complete small maintenance jobs such as changing lamps, clearing blocked drains, and carrying out simple repairs.
  • Work in full compliance with health and safety rules, including correct use of tools, machinery, and chemicals, along with regular site checks.
  • Handle waste and recycling tasks, including bin emptying and operation of the baler.
  • Carry out weekly inspections of plant and machinery and record maintenance information to help identify equipment failures.
  • Work with Engineering and Production teams on improvement initiatives and observe equipment performance to suggest process enhancements.
  • Take part in preventative maintenance activities.
  • Support safe handling and storage practices to prevent damage to moulds and other tooling or plant equipment.
  • Assist with mould changeovers in the Roto and Pipe departments when needed.

Desired background and skills

Applicants should have prior exposure to maintenance, plumbing, electrical work, or joinery. Experience in an industrial setting is an advantage. The company is looking for someone who can work alone when needed or collaborate effectively within a team, who is practical, adaptable, and able to work in a proactive and efficient way. Strong attention to detail, solid organisational ability, and clear communication in written and spoken English are important. Flexibility to work shifts, evenings, or weekends may be required. A Leaving Certificate is the minimum educational requirement, and First Aid or Manual Handling training would be beneficial.

Equal opportunity notice

The job description is intended to reflect the general nature and level of the role and is not a complete list of every duty, responsibility, or skill that may be required. JFC is an equal opportunities employer.
