Job description
Role overview
The Maintenance Technician will handle routine maintenance work and carry out repairs on equipment and building systems. The role also includes supporting workshop projects such as rebuilding pumps and motors, along with other repair tasks as needed. Depending on operational needs, the position may also involve work with hazardous materials, waste handling, water treatment, and inspection activities.
Key duties
- Carry out both planned and unplanned maintenance tasks in line with required safety procedures.
- Perform preventive, corrective, and routine servicing on facility equipment so it continues to operate properly, while ensuring all required documentation is completed correctly.
- Investigate equipment problems, determine the cause of failures, and complete repairs using suitable solutions.
- Use blueprints, diagrams, and other technical references to inspect, repair, and operate equipment correctly.
- Keep clear and accurate records of work in progress and work that has been completed.
- Maintain a tidy and organized work area.
- Take on other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or an equivalent qualification; relevant work experience may be accepted instead of formal education.
- At least 2 years of maintenance experience, ideally in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience working with quality management systems.
- Forklift certification, or the ability to obtain it.
- Respirator certification, or the ability to obtain it.
- Successful completion of Hazardous Waste (RCRA) Intermediate-level training.
