Role Overview

The Maintenance & Reliability Planner is essential for ensuring daily maintenance activities are effectively organized, planned, and resourced. This role supports maintenance planning, coordination, spare parts management, preventative maintenance scheduling, operational reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the plant. Collaborating closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, and external vendors, the planner ensures that equipment and systems remain safe, reliable, and optimize performance.

Key Objectives

  • Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are thoroughly organized and consistently executed.
  • Minimize equipment downtime through proactive planning and reliability strategies.
  • Accurately maintain maintenance records and inventory using the CMMS system.
  • Complete maintenance tasks safely while adhering to company policies and standards.
  • Plan and coordinate availability of spare parts, consumables, and maintenance resources for scheduled and urgent needs.
  • Foster effective cross-functional collaboration between maintenance and operations teams.
  • Identify and implement continuous process and equipment reliability improvements.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and oversee preventative maintenance schedules and work orders in the CMMS.
  • Manage and prioritize daily maintenance activities alongside technicians, operations, and engineering.
  • Organize procurement and availability of spare parts, consumables, and maintenance tools to fulfill work demands.
  • Analyze equipment performance to detect recurring failures and reliability issues.
  • Recommend improvements to increase equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Support effort to extend equipment lifecycle and decrease maintenance expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines, SOPs, and relevant industry standards during maintenance work.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels for maintenance materials.
  • Keep detailed maintenance records and generate performance and reliability reports.
  • Collaborate with vendors for procurement of tools, equipment, parts, consumables, and services.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving maintenance-related challenges.
  • Perform additional related maintenance functions as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least three years of progressive maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with maintenance planning, preventative maintenance, and reliability engineering.
  • Prior experience with CMMS systems is desirable.
  • Red Seal trade certification and/or engineering background is considered an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • English proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication.

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of Canadian work eligibility is mandatory.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged durations.
  • Capability to stoop, reach, kneel, and crouch as needed.
  • Must be able to lift weights of 50 pounds or more.
