Role overview
The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler supports the insulation manufacturing plant by helping build and carry out a reliability-focused maintenance program centered on preventive and predictive maintenance. The role is hands-on and works in line with the organization’s policies, goals, and operating priorities. It partners closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors in a union setting to make sure planned work is completed accurately and on time. The role may also require work outside normal hours when business needs demand it.
This position serves as the main coordinator for maintenance work activities and acts as the owner of the SAP work management process. It also involves job kitting as needed, careful system data entry, and monitoring work orders through to completion.
Key duties
- Create preventive maintenance and non-preventive maintenance work orders, and make sure the required spare parts are available at appropriate inventory levels.
- Serve as the administrator and trainer for work notifications in SAP Plant Maintenance, working with team supervisors to route work to contractors or hourly technicians.
- Maintain accurate equipment records and ensure work orders are properly prioritized and followed through, including safe job walkdowns and work-plan considerations.
- Work with specialists, engineers, and technicians to improve equipment reliability and availability through effective planned maintenance and rapid restoration to design performance.
- Keep an active eye on workplace conditions to identify safety concerns and support behavioral safety goals.
- Use maintenance planning tools to sort and sequence work by identifying the right people, tools, materials, and reliability activities needed at the facility.
Candidate profile
The ideal person is highly accurate, organized, self-directed, and proactive. They should be able to use many years of manufacturing experience to support plant objectives and contribute to team success. Strong safety awareness, efficiency, and the ability to manage multiple projects through to completion are important.
Experience in maintenance planning within a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred, along with strong communication, troubleshooting, and computer skills. The role also benefits from familiarity with SAP and continuous improvement methods such as Lean, Six Sigma, or World Class Manufacturing.
