Job Overview

Join the Maintenance Operations Centre (MOC) team at Kāinga Ora, based in Christchurch, to handle a high volume of maintenance assignments ensuring homes remain safe, well-maintained, and fit for residents. This position involves assessing and validating service requests, prioritizing jobs appropriately, coordinating with trades, and creating accurate work orders to facilitate efficient maintenance delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately manage large volumes of maintenance requests in a national operations system.
  • Improve maintenance results by validating, coordinating, and driving continuous enhancements.
  • Operate workflows to prioritize and plan maintenance tasks in collaboration with contractors and internal partners, ensuring timely work progress and communication of updates, especially for high-priority or complex cases.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to maintain consistency nationwide and assist in embedding improvements during the transition to a new model.

Work Environment

The role is based full-time onsite Monday through Friday at the Addington office in Christchurch, promoting teamwork, real-time problem solving, and decision-making.

Candidate Profile

  • Holds a relevant qualification in property, facilities management, maintenance, or a related discipline, or possesses equivalent industry experience.
  • Experienced in administering building maintenance programs, long-term plans, and ensuring compliance.
  • Strong analytical capability to interpret information and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for resolving issues and managing partnerships.
  • Proficient in risk and health & safety management, strictly adhering to processes and procedures.
  • Comfortable navigating digital platforms and online systems while adapting to high-pace environments.
  • Demonstrates initiative, sound judgement, and collaborates effectively under pressure within a team setting.
