Job Summary
Pima County's Finance and Risk Management Department is seeking a dedicated Mail Services Worker to join the Financial Operations Division's Mailroom team. This role involves managing the collection, sorting, distribution, and preparation of mail to ensure timely and accurate delivery throughout county departments. The position demands strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, sort, and distribute mail and interdepartmental communications for all County departments.
- Utilize postal scales to determine correct postage and apply postage accordingly.
- Classify, mark, and bundle mail in accordance with postal regulations.
- Operate mail metering devices, hand trucks, and pushcarts safely and effectively.
- Lift and transport heavy mail bags and boxes requiring physical strength.
- Maintain daily documentation of mail expenses and postage meter activities.
- Provide postal rate information and general guidance on mail procedures to various departments.
- Drive a van for routine mail runs, including occasional mail pickup from the post office.
- Perform routine maintenance on postal equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate is required.
- Preferred: At least two years of experience in mail services operations, including operating postage metering machinery, and sorting and packaging mail for delivery.
- Preferred: Minimum two years of customer service experience.
- Preferred: At least one year of experience with email communication and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Preferred: Minimum one year experience with alphabetic and numeric filing systems.
- Possession of a valid Arizona Class D driver's license and a clean driving record is mandatory.
Additional Details
- Applicants will be subject to a 39-month driving record review as per Department of Transportation standards before appointment.
- Pre-employment background checks, including verification of work history, education, and criminal records, will be conducted. Convictions will be considered but not necessarily disqualify candidates.
- Physical ability to lift and handle heavy mail items is required.

Compensation
The pay range for this position is between $17.04 and $23.02 per hour, with the hiring offer typically falling between $17.04 and $20.03 per hour. Final offer will consider applicant qualifications, experience, training, and internal equity guidelines.
