Role overview

As an M&A + Strategy Associate, you will lead acquisitions from start to finish and work on high-impact strategic initiatives that influence the company’s next moves. This includes decisions around new markets, new lines of business, and other key topics that reach senior leadership. The position sits on the principal side, so you will be responsible for owning transactions and outcomes directly rather than advising from the outside. It is aimed at a strong analyst, associate, or consultant who wants to transition from advisory work into building and executing.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage acquisitions across the full process, including target sourcing, screening, valuation, due diligence, deal structuring, negotiation, and completion.
  • Help determine Fuse’s next phase of growth by assessing which markets and business segments to enter, develop, or acquire, and by turning open-ended questions into recommendations leadership can use.
  • Prepare financial models, market analyses, and investment cases that support clear go or no-go decisions.
  • Coordinate execution by running workstreams, advisors, data rooms, and timelines, then support approvals and handoff into integration.
  • Step into urgent special projects that require quick analysis, close collaboration, and fast delivery under leadership scrutiny.

Candidate profile

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in M&A, investing (including PE, VC, or infrastructure), corporate development, or another demanding analytical environment.
  • Strong capability in financial modelling, valuation, and structured problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and bring ambiguous problems to a practical conclusion.
  • Good commercial judgment and persuasive communication skills for presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • A highly detail-focused, execution-oriented approach with the ability to move quickly from strategy into implementation.
  • A strong quantitative or STEM educational background.
  • Helpful background in energy, infrastructure, or renewables.
  • Experience leading or supporting acquisitions from origination through closing is an added advantage.
  • Exposure to entering new markets or building new business lines is also beneficial.
