Role Overview

The Loss Prevention Store Detective supports store safety and shrink control efforts by completing daily loss-prevention tasks, maintaining a strong working relationship with store leadership, and helping identify both internal and external theft. The role also involves following established apprehension standards, communicating with associates about damage and shrink, and contributing to a secure retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow company shoplifter procedures and loss-prevention standards at all times.
• Deliver prompt, polite, and informed service to shoppers when needed.
• Support a workplace culture built on honesty, integrity, and confidentiality.
• Watch for, stop, and deter dishonest activity from external sources.
• Take part in investigations and surveillance assignments as required.
• Make sure apprehensions align with observed store theft patterns.
• Prepare and share documentation accurately and within required timelines.
• Handle evidence properly and understand basic law-enforcement processes when legal involvement is needed.
• Work with store management on shrink-related tasks and initiatives.
• Comply with labor laws, company policies, and internal procedures.
• Help drive shrink-reduction goals and encourage associates to use related resources.
• Promote safety awareness and help maintain a secure store environment.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate brings strong communication and judgment, basic computer and time-management ability, and solid investigative or analytical thinking. Flexibility is important, as the schedule may change based on business requirements. The role also calls for someone who works well with peers and supervisors and can adapt quickly to changing situations.

Experience

Retail or security experience of 0 to 2 years is preferred.

Skills Needed

Applicants should be comfortable with observation, reporting, documentation, collaboration, and loss-prevention operations. The role also benefits from familiarity with computer systems, basic investigative work, and flexible retail scheduling.

Compensation
