About the Role
We seek a detail-oriented and ethically driven individual to join our team as a Loss Prevention and Control Officer. This role demands a high degree of integrity and responsibility, focusing on safeguarding company assets and minimizing losses.
Responsibilities
- Oversee CCTV surveillance to monitor store activities effectively.
- Investigate discrepancies related to product returns, deletions, and exchanges.
- Provide training to security staff and employees on loss prevention protocols, best practices, and control strategies.
- Detect and prevent internal and external theft activities, including cashier fraud, corruption, bribery, and shoplifting, and recover losses.
- Conduct routine inventory audits to identify and report stock shortages.
- Recommend and implement systems to reduce losses of merchandise, money, and other company assets.
- Apprehend individuals involved in theft or shoplifting incidents.
- Work closely with store leadership to resolve security issues.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting security incidents as necessary.
- Assess weaknesses within current security systems and suggest improvements.
- Investigate various fraud, theft, and product damage cases.
- Perform additional duties assigned by management to support the company's loss prevention goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma.
- Professional certifications related to security or loss prevention are advantageous.
- At least two years of relevant experience in loss prevention or a similar role within the retail or FMCG sectors.
Skills Required
- Experienced in operating security technology such as CCTV systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general tech-savviness.
- Strong skills in conflict resolution and de-escalation.
- Analytical thinker with tactical awareness in security matters.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Excellent oral and written communication capabilities.
- Outstanding interpersonal and problem-solving talents.
- Skilled in drafting clear and comprehensive reports.
- Competent in inventory management.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to assess security risks.
- Experienced in investigating fraud, theft, and product damages, including evidence gathering.
- Proficient in interviewing and interrogating individuals regarding security incidents.
- Knowledgeable about legal and regulatory frameworks related to loss prevention.
- Understanding of fraud deterrence techniques and detection methods.
- Familiarity with retail-specific loss prevention strategies.
- Experience managing inventory and identifying stock discrepancies to support loss control.
