Simcoe County District School Board is hiring for a Long Term Occasional assignment teaching Grade 7/8 at Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The principal for this assignment is Stephanie Haelzle.

Pre-employment and onboarding requirements

Candidates must allow the board to contact two professional references, including their current supervisor and their most recent supervisor. All newly hired employees must also complete mandatory training modules before their first day.

Teacher duties and regulatory expectations

The role carries the duties described under R.R.O. 1990, Regulation 298, Operation of Schools, Section 20. These include delivering effective instruction, training, and assessment; managing the class; reporting pupil progress when requested; carrying out supervisory and instructional duties assigned by the principal; and cooperating with other teachers and school leadership on matters related to student instruction.

Teachers are expected to be in the classroom or teaching area and ready for students at least 15 minutes before morning classes begin, and where applicable, at least 5 minutes before afternoon classes begin. They must also help the principal maintain positive community relations, prepare lesson plans and outlines as required, follow all reasonable safety procedures, maintain consistent disciplinary practices, complete report cards properly, assist with EQAO testing, meet with parents or guardians regularly, support co-operative placements, and handle other duties connected to student graduation as assigned.
