Overview
GARUDA TRANSPORT LTD. is hiring a long haul truck driver based in Delta, British Columbia. This is a full-time, on-site role focused on transporting goods and materials over long distances, including international and cross-border routes.
Language
English is required for this position.
Education
No degree, certificate, or diploma is needed.
Experience
Training will be provided to the right candidate.
Work Setting
- The work may involve multiple locations.
- Relocation expenses are covered by the employer.
Key Duties
- Work as part of a two-driver team or convoy.
- Operate straight trucks or articulated trucks to move goods and materials.
- Check the condition of the vehicle, including tires, lights, brakes, refrigerated systems, and related equipment.
- Collect and make payments for goods when required.
- Carry out brake adjustments.
- Complete emergency roadside repairs when necessary.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and monitor the overall condition of the vehicle.
- Communicate updates to central dispatch.
- Keep records of cargo, hours of service, distance covered, and fuel used.
- Secure cargo with tarps and ensure its safety and protection during transport.
Credentials
- Air Brake (Z) endorsement.
- Valid Class 1 or Class A driver's licence.
Documentation and Specialized Experience
- Knowledge of accident or incident reports.
- Experience with driver logbooks.
- Ability to complete inspection reports before, during, and after trips.
- Familiarity with maintenance and repair records.
- Understanding of trans-border documentation.
- Ability to prepare trip reports.
- Experience with flatbed trucks.
- Experience with logging and off-highway equipment.
- Experience with refrigerated transport.
- Experience operating straight trucks of 4,600 kg or 10,000 lbs and above with 3 or more axles.
- Experience with tractor-trailers.
- Comfort using CB radio communication systems.
- Ability to use GPS and other navigation tools.
- Experience with international and long-haul transportation.
