Job description
Role Overview
Our client, an international firm recently established in Dubai, requires a Logistics Manager experienced in handling minerals or chemicals within the UAE. Candidates must have their own vehicle for travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and reside currently in the UAE. The candidate will lead the export and logistics processes for approximately 30,000 metric tons of White Fused Alumina from the TAC plant in Abu Dhabi, coordinating shipments primarily to Europe, the United States, and Latin America.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead export and logistics operations for large mineral shipments from Abu Dhabi via major UAE ports.
- Coordinate closely with suppliers, production plants, and logistics teams to ensure production planning, shipment scheduling, and handover alignment.
- Manage vessel scheduling with shipping lines and freight forwarders, including booking and shipment execution.
- Maintain coordination with port authorities, customs, inspection agencies, and other relevant entities.
- Oversee customs clearance, export declarations, and adherence to UAE trade regulations.
- Manage domestic transportation logistics, including truck allocation and scheduling.
- Negotiate and secure regional and international freight contracts and optimize freight costs.
- Monitor shipment processes to avoid delays, congestion, demurrage, and operational issues.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of shipping and export documentation.
- Identify and resolve operational challenges; develop contingency plans for disruptions.
- Handle claims and damage management in collaboration with carriers and insurers.
- Collaborate with Sales and Finance teams to synchronize logistics execution with business goals.
- Work closely with internal teams, including those based in Germany, for alignment in planning and reporting.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years' operational logistics experience in the UAE, preferably with minerals and/or chemicals.
- Practical experience working with UAE ports, chiefly Khalifa Port, and customs authorities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UAE customs regulations and export compliance.
- Experience in production plant coordination and dispatch planning.
- Expertise in negotiating regional and international freight contracts for containerized and bulk shipments.
- Established professional network among freight forwarders, customs brokers, transport providers, and port operators in Abu Dhabi.
- Strong understanding of Incoterms (FCA, FOB, CFR, CIF) and export documentation.
- Ability to work independently with high compliance standards.
- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated handling of high-volume industrial exports (20,000+ MT annually preferred).
- Preference given to candidates with experience in minerals, refractory, or industrial raw materials exports.
- Proactive, resourceful attitude with strong operational leadership skills.
- Familiarity with UAE Free Zone frameworks and corporate governance.
- Knowledge of shipment tracking and customs filing systems such as Abu Dhabi Customs, TAMM, UAE Gateway, and UAE Customs e-Services.
- Must possess and use own car for travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
- Candidate must be currently residing in the UAE.
