Overview

This role is offered through a partner organization seeking a Logistics and Last-Mile Procurement Specialist based in the United States. This opportunity focuses on enabling organizations to revamp their logistics operations by leveraging strategic procurement and supplier management expertise. The position plays a critical role in optimizing transportation networks, enhancing last-mile delivery effectiveness, and generating tangible cost savings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic sourcing efforts in logistics sectors including last-mile delivery networks, courier services, transportation providers, fleet management, and logistics technologies.
  • Formulate and implement procurement plans that align with client objectives to boost cost efficiency, service quality, and operational outcomes.
  • Conduct evaluations of suppliers, manage competitive sourcing events, perform market assessments, and execute logistics benchmarking activities.
  • Negotiate contracts and assist in drafting agreements to secure cost savings, mitigate risks, and improve service delivery.
  • Design and establish Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), supplier governance models, and performance management systems.
  • Perform analyses such as total cost of ownership, should-cost modeling, spend analysis, and market research to inform strategic procurement decisions.
  • Analyze logistics and transportation spending to uncover optimization opportunities and enhance operational processes.
  • Manage supplier performance, ensure contract compliance, and conduct vendor risk assessments for successful partnerships.
  • Lead project workstreams, encompassing planning, stakeholder coordination, resolving issues, and providing executive-level reporting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, transportation, finance, legal, and leadership teams to implement impactful procurement solutions.
  • Support business development activities through industry insights, proposal input, and client presentations.
  • Build enduring supplier relationships and generate measurable procurement transformation value.
  • Travel as necessary to support client and supplier engagements.

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, logistics, transportation, or consulting roles.
  • Demonstrated expertise managing sourcing efforts and contracts linked to last-mile delivery, couriers, transport providers, and logistics suppliers throughout the U.S.
  • Strong understanding of fleet operations, transport networks, telematics, route optimization tools, and digital logistics solutions.
  • Proven success in supplier negotiations, contract creation, vendor management, and handling complex sourcing events.
  • Experience developing and managing SLAs, KPIs, supplier governance frameworks, and vendor risk management methods.
  • Knowledge in logistics market analysis, benchmarking, total cost assessments, spend analysis, should-cost modeling, and business case development.
  • Capability to identify cost-saving opportunities, elevate supplier performance, and enhance efficiency through data-driven tactics.
  • Excellent consulting, advisory, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills, including dealing with senior executives.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, presentation, collaboration, and analytical competencies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, Procurement, Operations Management, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred qualifications include advanced education or certifications such as MBA, Master’s degrees, CPSM, CPSD, CSCP, C.P.M., or other supply chain credentials.
