Job description

Overview

The Foothills Medical Centre and Arthur JE Child Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre seek a motivated Locksmith to join their Facility Maintenance Teams. This role supports the delivery of exceptional patient care by ensuring optimal functioning of facility systems and equipment. The Locksmith will collaborate within a multi-trade team dedicated to maintaining world-class healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out journey-level locksmith tasks including installation, upkeep, upgrades, and repairs for door hardware and locking systems. Manage the key control program strictly following building codes, technical drawings, standards, and blueprints.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Locksmith Certificate from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
  • Possession of an Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act Locksmith License.
  • At least five years of locksmith experience, preferably in healthcare, institutional, or large-facility settings.
  • Knowledge of electronic access control systems, key control software, and security hardware brands such as Sargent, Medeco, Best, and Assa Abloy.
  • Experience installing and repairing automated and revolving doors in institutional environments.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, door hardware schedules, and life-safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with CMMS tools like SimpleK and e-Facilities.
  • Certifications or training in First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, Lockout/Tagout procedures, Fall Protection, and aerial lift usage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAADM certification or other automated door manufacturing certification.
  • Capability to lift and move objects up to 25 kg, and perform physically demanding activities involving standing, bending, kneeling, ladder use, and working in confined spaces or construction zones.
  • Strong communication skills suited to clinical environments with patients and staff.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating punctuality and reliability.
  • Proven commitment to situational awareness and safety.
  • Excellent documentation skills for work orders and key control records.

Work Details

  • Location: Foothills Medical Centre
  • Employment: Regular full time, onsite
  • Work Schedule: 7.75 hours per shift, two-week cycles with 10 day shifts per cycle, weekends off (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Start Date: August 28, 2026
  • Salary Range: $37.58 to $41.56 per hour
