This is a U.S.-based remote role. Knock has maintained a fully remote culture since its founding and operates with employees across 17 states.
Role Overview
In this position, the Loan Officer Assistant is referred to internally as a Sales Assistant. The role supports customers from application through initial disclosures, explains Knock’s products and programs, and helps Loan Officers move borrowers through to closing successfully.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Loan Officers by collecting the documents needed to complete loan applications.
- Partner with borrowers and other stakeholders to help them reach pre-approval for the Knock Bridge Loan.
- Manage a high-volume pipeline, with more than 200 loan applications per month for each Loan Officer.
- Verify that minimum submission standards and required documents are in place before loans are sent for disclosure.
- Track disclosed loans and make sure signatures are completed promptly.
- Help Loan Officers and Loan Assistants respond to borrower requests.
- Assign new loan files to the appropriate Loan Officers.
- Apply knowledge of TRID rules and Loan Estimates.
- Coordinate with internal risk teams and Loan Officers to ensure loans are properly configured and documented in Encompass.
- Deliver responsive, high-quality customer service and keep communication flowing with both internal teams and external customers.
- Work independently in a remote, technology-driven setting and take initiative without needing constant direction.
- Meet or exceed individual targets while sharing effective approaches with the wider team.
- Keep up with all emails and voicemails so that nothing is left unresolved.
- Continue building knowledge of mortgage origination sales and take on extra projects as needed.
- Help reinforce a people-first culture centered on service from lead generation through closing.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience as a Mortgage Loan Originator or Sales Assistant / Loan Officer Assistant.
- Active NMLS license, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of being hired.
- Experience with Encompass, MeridianLink, Blend, and/or Google Suite.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, fully remote startup environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
- Ability to read and interpret internal guidelines.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and process-driven.
- Willingness to adapt to change and work effectively in a distributed national team.
- Commitment to diverse, equitable, and inclusive practices.
- Prior success working 100% remotely.

Physical Requirements
This role requires regular computer use and the ability to communicate accurately by phone or internet-based video tools. The candidate must be able to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is USD 51,000 to USD 56,000 per year. This role also includes an uncapped bonus plan. Target on-target earnings (OTE) are USD 72,000 per year, but this amount is performance-based and not guaranteed.
