Role Overview

The Loan Officer position, based on-site in Ilorin, Kwara State, involves managing the complete loan lifecycle for both individual borrowers and business clients. Key duties include identifying prospective borrowers, conducting initial consultations, collecting relevant documentation, evaluating creditworthiness, and verifying eligibility. The role requires performing financial analyses, assisting underwriting efforts, preparing loan proposals, and ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory frameworks. Daily responsibilities also encompass processing loan applications, monitoring approval and disbursement progress, maintaining accurate client records, and conducting follow-ups regarding repayments and renewals. Providing excellent customer support by educating clients about various loan offerings and terms is essential. The Loan Officer contributes to portfolio expansion while mitigating associated risks.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in loan or lending roles, with knowledge of loan origination and officer functions.
  • Strong foundation in finance concepts such as credit analysis, risk evaluation, and basic accounting principles.
  • Practical experience handling underwriting procedures, reviewing loan documentation, and ensuring regulatory compliance in lending activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service capabilities, able to communicate effectively and professionally address client inquiries.
  • Relevant academic qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or comparable disciplines.
  • Proficiency in office software and loan management platforms, coupled with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work reliably on-site in Ilorin, managing multiple loan cases simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience in MSME lending or retail banking within the Nigerian financial sector is advantageous.
