About the Role

JAX Tyres & Auto is looking to hire a qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic to become part of their active Illawarra team. This full-time, on-site position involves delivering superior mechanical and tyre services to a loyal local clientele. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional who values high-quality workmanship and excellent customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct servicing activities including diagnostics, mechanical repairs, and maintenance on various light vehicles.
• Accurately identify mechanical, electrical, and brake system faults utilizing modern diagnostic tools.
• Perform tyre and suspension services such as wheel alignments, steering repairs, tyre fitting, and balancing.
• Ensure all repairs comply with stringent safety standards and JAX’s quality procedures.
• Engage professionally with customers to explain vehicle safety inspections, necessary repairs, and expected timelines.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Requirements

• Trade qualification: Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent credential.
• Demonstrated experience in a busy automotive workshop, capable of working independently from the start.
• Possession of a current and valid Australian manual driver’s license.
• Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
• Dependable work ethic, punctuality, and ability to collaborate within a team.
