Role Summary
This Qatar-based, on-site position is for a Lifting Appointed Person responsible for controlling lifting activities end to end. The role focuses on preparing lifting arrangements, checking that equipment and methods are appropriate, carrying out risk reviews, and making sure all operations follow required safety and operational standards.
The position also involves coordinating with different site teams, overseeing execution in the field, and ensuring that lifting work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize lifting plans for site activities.
- Supervise lifting operations and monitor execution at site level.
- Verify that lifting equipment and methods are suitable for the task.
- Carry out risk assessments and identify possible hazards before and during operations.
- Ensure lifting work complies with safety requirements, operational procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to support safe and smooth lifting activity.
- Provide guidance and training support related to lifting practices where needed.
- Track and manage lifting operations so that they are completed efficiently and within project timelines.
Requirements
- Hands-on knowledge of lift planning, risk evaluation, and supervision of lifting activities.
- Strong understanding of lifting gear, rigging, slinging methods, and crane operations.
- Familiarity with safety rules, compliance standards, and environmental considerations linked to lifting work.
- Good organization, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
- Relevant certification such as LOLER or an equivalent safety qualification is preferred.
- Previous exposure to construction or engineering environments is an advantage.
- Ability to prepare reports and maintain operational documentation is preferred.
- Comfortable working in a site-based team environment and meeting project deadlines.
