Job description
Position summary
This role is for a lifestyle retoucher who edits imagery that reflects everyday moments in a natural, polished way. The focus is on making careful, understated enhancements to preserve realism while improving how the image supports marketing, social media, and brand storytelling. Work typically involves raw, unstaged photography that must still feel authentic and aligned with the brand look.
The position is based in North Kansas City and falls under the Corporate category. It also includes responsibility for guiding a Social Media Coordinator who supports scheduling, publishing, product tagging, content planning, coordination, community engagement, and analytics as needed.
Core responsibilities
The job centers on refining photos so they look consistent, believable, and on-brand. Typical work includes adjusting light and color, improving background detail for a more complete scene, making subtle refinements to body shape and proportions when needed, and removing small skin imperfections without losing natural texture.
You will also help keep visual output consistent with brand standards, manage several projects at once under tight deadlines, coordinate closely with photographers and creative partners, and keep image files organized and clearly labeled for an efficient workflow.
In addition, the role requires strong technical use of editing tools, solid understanding of color management, and compliance with legal and social media policies related to intellectual property and music.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Photography, Digital Illustration, Graphic Design, or a similar field focused on visual storytelling and multimedia creation is required, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and professional experience.
Applicants should have at least 7 years of experience in photo editing and/or digital image specialization, strong retouching ability, and a portfolio that includes before-and-after examples. Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite tools such as Bridge, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver is required, along with proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and internet-based applications.
The role also calls for excellent design judgment, speed, accuracy, prioritization, problem-solving, presentation, and communication skills. The ideal candidate can work independently, build effective relationships across teams, adapt quickly to changing priorities, handle multiple tasks at the same time, and maintain a strong eye for color. Experience with jewelry or macro photography is a plus.
This position expects a hybrid-style work pattern with predictable onsite attendance of three or more days per week to support in-person collaboration, equipment use, and direct interaction with coworkers, managers, and internal or external customers.
Additional information
This role is expected to stay responsive in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment and requires a self-directed approach with strong attention to detail, reporting, and follow-through.
The company also expects the employee to manage and develop a Social Media Coordinator while jointly handling scheduling, publishing, product tagging, content planning, coordination, community management, and analytics support as needed.
